Walter Sinn is the Chairman of Bain & Company for Germany and Austria. Previously, he served for eleven years as the Managing Partner overseeing Bain’s business in the German-speaking region and was a long-standing member of Bain’s Global Board.

With more than 30 years of experience as a business expert across major industries, he brings deep expertise in CEO agendas, corporate strategy and transformation, organizational effectiveness, M&A and post-merger integration, as well as change management. His clients include CEOs and senior executives whom he advises across industries on the most critical topics of their management agendas.

Since Walter was appointed Managing Partner for Bain’s DACH region in 2014, the firm has more than tripled both its revenue and headcount in the region. During this period, Bain has achieved exceptional growth in key industries such as banking, insurance, automotive, industrial goods, and consumer products & retail. Under his leadership, Bain also significantly expanded its footprint in the German-speaking market by opening new offices in Berlin (2018) and Vienna (2022).

Together with manager magazin, Sinn launched the prestigious Game Changer Award in 2015. The award recognizes companies in Germany that have transformed their business models through outstanding innovation—changing not only themselves, but also the rules of their industries. In 2019, he was honored by Consulting Magazine with the Global Leaders in Consulting Award, recognizing him as one of the world’s leading consultants.

Walter Sinn began his professional career at Deutsche Bank and, prior to joining Bain, was a Senior Partner at another top-tier consulting firm.

Walter holds a degree in business administration from University of Mannheim and is a graduate of ESSEC in Paris, and is the father of six children.
